G.Al-Attar elected Business session with Iraq-French Council

Prime Minister Mr. Mohammad Shiaa Al-Sudani chairs the second meeting of the Board of Directors of the Iraq Fund for Development
On Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Iraq Fund for Development, the second meeting within a month, to discuss investment opportunities for the construction of school buildings in the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the governorates, and what this file constitutes. It is of great importance to the government, and the priorities of its program necessitate accelerating its implementation.
The meeting witnessed a discussion of the legal and technical standards for signing contracts with investors, which include the specifications of engineering designs and the need for them to be compatible with the atmosphere of Iraq and meet environmental requirements, in addition to architectural and aesthetic standards, construction specifications, time limits and implementation priorities, according to needs and the best geographical distribution.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. G. Al-Attar, member of the Board of Directors of the Iraq Fund for Development for the private sector.
Establishment of the Private Sector Development Council – Ministry of Planning
The Ministry of Planning issued Ministerial Order No. (42) to form the General Authority of the Private Sector Development Council in its permanent capacity. According to the ministerial order, it was decided to “form the General Authority of the Private Sector Development Council in its permanent capacity, and the members of the Private Sector Development Council in its permanent capacity will be elected by the members of the General Authority, where the Ministry will undertake the tasks of preparing for holding elections for the Private Sector Development Council in its permanent capacity and in coordination with the relevant authorities.”.
The ministerial order attributed its decision “to what was stated in the fourth pillar of the private sector development strategy in Iraq 2014-2030 {implementation structure} establishing the Private Sector Development Council to be the highest institutional structure that supervises the aforementioned strategy and in line with what was stated in paragraph (25) of the curriculum paper.” The Ministerial Council of the Government, which stipulated “a commitment to support the private sector, whether in the field of implementation or legislation, as it is a partner in reconstruction and construction, and the Ministry of Planning is keen to continue this support, out of its belief in its vital role in revitalizing and developing the Iraqi economy as the primary partner in formulating economic policies in Iraq.”
Mr. G. Al-Attar - Chairman of the Group was elected as a member of the General Authority of the Private Sector Development Council in his permanent capacity for the commercial sector and commercial agencies - Ministry of Planning.

Announcing the establishment of the Iraqi-Chinese Business Council
On 11/25/2023, the establishment of the Iraqi-Chinese Business Council was announced in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with the aim of promoting trade and investment between Iraqi and Chinese companies.
The announcement ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Iraqi Minister of Commerce, Mr. Atheer Al-Ghurairi, a number of members of the Iraqi Parliament, Chinese embassy staff, dozens of Iraqi and Chinese businessmen, 150 Iraqi companies and 55 Chinese companies, according to Haider Al-Rubaie, Chairman of the Iraqi-Chinese Business Council. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Iraqi-Chinese Business Council and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce
It was also announced at the ceremony that Mr. G. Al-Attar - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Attar International Holding Group and a member of the Board of Directors of the Iraqi-Chinese Business Council

The private sector represented by G. al-Attar
The Iraqi Cabinet voted on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, to form the Board of Directors of the Iraq Fund for Development, chaired by the Prime Minister, based on the provisions of Article (5/Second) of the Iraqi Fund for Development System (3 ) for the year of 2023).
The Board of Directors includes the Ministers of Planning, Finance, Reconstruction, and Housing. Municipalities and Public Works, and three representatives from the private sector.
Mr. G. Al-Attar was chosen as one of the members of the Board of Directors, representing the private sector.
Friendship Association – Iraqi-Chinese
On Tuesday August 01st 2023, Mr. G. Al-Attar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Attar International Holding Company, and a member of the Iraqi-Chinese Friendship Association, attended the meeting held by the association, in the presence of elite Iraqi businessmen and representatives of major Chinese companies. During the meeting, they discussed the development of economic relations between the two countries.
Investors meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister
On Saturday 22th, July 2023, Mr. G. Al–Attar, Chairman of Al-Attar International Holding Board of Directors attended the meeting, which was chaired by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammad Shi'a, the respected Sudanese, who included a number of businessmen and investors from the Iraqi private sector ,where the meeting discussed ways to remove the obstacles that hinder the work of the private sector, and its support to contribute to the implementation of the government's plans in development and investment.
Al-Attar meets Lotus
On June 14/2023, Mr. G. Al-Attar, accompanied by a group of prominent Iraqi businessmen from the Iraqi Business Council, met with the Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce for Middle East Affairs, Mr. Steve Lotus.
al-Attar and Lotus discussed ways and means of developing the economic relationship between the private sectors in both countries.
Al-Attar visits Saudi Arabia
On June 11th, 2023, Mr. G. Al-Attar, Chairman and CEO of Al-Attar International Holding Company for Investment recently accepted an invitation sent to him by Mr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh, Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mr. al-Attar attended along with a group of Iraqi businessmen the 10th session of the Arab-Chinese Businessmen Conference held in Riyadh, KSA from 11 to 12 June 2023.
GIZ Agency Conference Attending
On Monday, June 5th, 2023, Mr. G. Al-Attar, Chairman and CEO of Al-Attar International Holding Company for Investment, attended the conference invitation organized by (GIZ Agency) held entitled “The actual needs for financing small and medium enterprises in Iraq”, organized by the Iraqi-German government project and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ, as the recommendations of the conference contribute to the diversification of the Iraqi economy and the provision of job opportunities for young people.
Business Council Attended in KSA
On Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, Mr. G. Al-Attar, Chairman and CEO of Al-Attar Holding Company for Investment, and a member of the Iraqi-Saudi Business Council attended the Iraqi-Saudi Business Forum organized by the mentioned council, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah city in the period from 24/05/2023 to 25/05/2023.
